| Birbal Sahni's Birth Centenary Function |
BSIP witnessed a memorable and eventful year on the occasion of Birbal Sahni Birth Centenary. Several programs were held amidst a galaxy of distinguished scientists, and guests both from India and overseas. Several other symposia and conferences, dedicated to the memory of Late Professor Birbal Sahni were held at different centers of the country. |

To popularize palaeobotany in the minds of young students and general public an exhibition "Past of the Green World" was organized at the Regional Science Center. |
Birbal Sahni Birth Centenary was also celebrated at other centers of research in India. Jammu University organized a workshop on "Major Stratigraphic Boundaries", from 27-29 November 1991; Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology - "Birbal Sahni Birth Centenary Symposium on the Siwalik Basin" at Dehradun from 5-6 December 1991. "14th All India Botanical Conference" was hosted by Department of Botany, Lucknow University on 28th December 1991 dedicated to the memory of Birbal Sahni. |
The Gondwana Geological Society, Nagpur released a Special Volume "Scientific papers of Birbal Sahni Centenary National Symposium on Gondwana of India". |
